السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاَتُهُ

أَعُـوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّ جِيمِ. بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

اَلحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِى اَنْعَمَ عَلَيْنَا بِأَنْوَاعِ النِّعَمِ وَلَطَا ئِفِ الإحْسَانِ. وَفَضَّلناَ عَلَى سَائِرِ خَلْقِهِ بِتَعْلِيْمِ العِلْمِ وِالبَيَانِ

وِالصَّلاَةُ والسَّلاَمُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَبْعُوثِ بِخَيْرِ المِلَلِ وَالبَيَانِ. وَعَلَى الِهِ وَاَصْحَابِهِ بِدُورِ مَعَالِمِ الإِيمَانِ. أَمَّا بَعْد

معاشر المسلمين والمسلمات رحمكم الله

First of all, I would like to lead all of you to thank Allah swt. by saying hamdalah together الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ رَبِّ اْلعَالَمِيْنَ. Why, because we have to be thankful to Allah, the Almighty who has fully bestowed on us with abundant mercies, plentiful kindness and full rahmah to us. Therefore, we can gather in this lovely place.

Furthermore, our shalawat and also salam, blessing and salutation are especially devoted to prophet Muhammad saw, a prophet who has saved us from annar into jannah, from hell into paradise. So, let’s say shalawat together اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

ايها الاخوة رَحِمَكُمُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالىَ

On this occasion, I would like to deliver a speech with the title:

ASEAN ECONOMY

قال الله تعالى

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاء وَالْبَنِينَ وَالْقَنَاطِيرِ الْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالأَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِ ذَلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاللّهُ عِندَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَآبِ  (آل عمران 14)

It means: Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire – of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return. (translated by Sahih International)

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

From the mentioned verse we understand that everybody loves money. No one hates money. Do you also like money, my brother? Alhamdulillah….

Money is like blood. Yes money is like blood that is running within the whole body. So, if our body has shortage of blood, we will feel tired, weak and maybe stressed and depressed. The same case can happen in money too. People say, big money, big power but no money, insyaallah no power. A funny proverb says:

بالفلوس مولوس، بلا فلوس منفوس – ماشاء الله

I hope it won’t happen to you, aamiin.

Dear respectable audience,

Mentioning money means discussing economy. And the economy of the world has become interesting issue to talk about. Why? Because, if the economy of a nation is good, then people of that nation will live quite happily. For example, if they are hungry, they can eat; if they are sick, they can get medication; if they want to get high education, they can study well. Imagine my brothers, if the economy of a nation is bankrupt, what will happen to the people? Surely, his people will live in difficulty after difficulty. ما شاء الله، نعوذ بالله من ذالك May Allah swt. bless our nation with good economy, amin ya robbal ‘alamin.

My beloved brothers and sisters, and also dear honorable judges,

Let’s now focus on the economy of ASEAN countries. It is Association of Southeast Asian Nations, that include: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, and then, the new members Brunei daarussalaam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar or Burma and Vietnam. All totaling of 10 countries.

Dear friends in Islam,

As you know, the world today is becoming smaller and smaller. The world is borderless; there is no geographic limitation any more. Look my brothers, by internet connection, people all over the world can chat, share news, and exchange cultures, even they can make a business in a split of second. If we don’t follow the technology trend, then we will be left behind. You like it or not.  So, don’t be the ones as an allusion ever written by شكيب أرسلان  in his old book:

لماذا تأخر المسلمون ولماذا تقدم غيرهم ؟

(Why the Muslim community suffered a setback and other community progress in civilization)

We all hope that this condition will never happen, aamiin. That’s why, we must motivate all Muslim communities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei daarussalaam and Singapore must be leaders or pioneers in ASEAN organization, especially in the fields of economy and finance.

Dear audience,

What is actually the aim of establishing ASEAN? The main goal is to accelerate, to speed up economic growth among the 10 members, without neglecting its political, social and cultural purposes. To show that ASEAN members prioritize in boosting economy, the leaders of ASEAN form an organization that is called AEC (ASEAN Economic Community).

By AEC, people in south-east Asia are prepared to face economic globalization. And with economic globalization in this region, the 10 member countries agree to have free trade. People are free to make business across other countries. Really, globalization is unavoidable. If we try to run away or hide ourselves from making interaction with outer world, we will certainly live alone as if we were under coconut shell. No friend, no progress.

So, we have to follow free trade. What is the benefit of the free trade, then? The free trade will, not only minimize gap between the rich and the poor, but it will also trigger economic and financial accelerations, aamiin, yaa robbal ‘aalamiin.

Dear muslimiin muslimaat رحمكم الله

Some people are afraid of the negative impact from globalization. But don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid, dear brother! If we have strong iimaan, strong faith, insyaallah we will be safe from all negativities, like: pornography, free sex, fashion, music, un-islamic lifestyle, and all non-syariah businesses. On the other hand, we will get positive impact from globalization, like free tax, free visa to enter other country, multiple good paid-jobs, investments minimally in ASEAN region.

But, since it is a tight competition, we need to prepare our human resources. So that our human resources are skillful, creative, progressive and also competitive in their fields.

I think it’s time for me to end up this speech by begging your forgiveness on all mistakes and inconveniences, and let’s close with prayers

ربنا أتنا في الدنيا حسنة و في الأخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار

إِلىَ اللِّقَاءِ فِىْ وَقْتٍ آخَرَ. وَأَخِيْرًا اَقُوْلُ لَكُمْ اُوْصِيْكُمْ وَنَفْسِىْ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ
